During WW1, Pat's aunt, Edith "Queenie" Avenell, nursed in Egypt, France and England. A government grant enabled Pat and journalist Anne Skinner to prepare for publication 107 letters from Queenie to her family. This event was a book launch for "Queenie : letters from an Australian Army Nurse 1915-17,"
