At bottom left of poster: "Women's Social & Political Union..." The Prisoners (Temporary Discharge for Ill-health ) Act 1913 was also known as the Cat and Mouse act which allowed for the discharge of suffragists on hunger strikes in prison. This absolved the authorities of the claims of cruelty and danger to life. However, further transgressions by the suffragists resulted in imprisonment and the cycle began again.
