Subject(s): Online resources: Summary: This study adds to the evidence into family violence perpetrator programs by investigating the engagement techniques that practitioners employ, as well as intake and assessment practices more broadly. It draws on interviews with practitioners from corrections, relationships, and health services in the Bayside Peninsula and Southern Melbourne regions of Victoria. The study maps current strategy and practice in these regions, and examines intake, assessment and engagement practices, and how these may influence further engagement and retention, from a practitioner perspective. The findings provide insights into the day-to-day challenges of behaviour change work. The report presents the findings and makes recommendations for practice, workforce development, and justice system processes.
