Bibliography: leaves [1-10]
"This work takes the oral stories of five older women telling their stories of their mothers, aunts or other women who have been significant in their lives and placing their narratives within understandings of the broader cultural history of Australia during the decades between 1950 tp 1980. During those decades an ageist sexist hierarchy was nurtured that served the intertwining interests of the state and the capitalist economy and the powerful political, economic, medical, legal, media and other institutions. However, while sexism and ageism are strongly normalising within the Australian culture, they do not completely deprive women of agency and choice"... part of the abstract
